Jihua Laboratory (Guangdong Laboratory of Advanced Manufacturing Science and Technology) is one of the first four laboratories in Guangdong Province initiated by Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and government. Cao Jianlin, deputy director of the Committee of Education, Science and Health of the CPPCC National Committee and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, is the first chairman and director. Jihua Laboratory faces the world's scientific and technological frontier and the main battlefield of national economy. Centering on the major needs of the country and Guangdong Province, Jihua Laboratory gathers and integrates domestic and foreign advantageous innovation resources to build a domestic first-class and international high-end strategic scientific and technological innovation platform in the field of advanced manufacturing science and technology. With the construction principle of "indomitable ground, comprehensive opening up, people-oriented and results-oriented", the main tasks during the construction period are to build a scientific research team rooted in Foshan, build an international high-end scientific research platform, precipitate a number of independent and controllable core technologies, and drive the innovation-driven emerging industries of Foshan. Six disciplines, including optical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Science and technology, computer science and technology, materials science and engineering and biomedical engineering, have been determined in advance. Eight research directions are deployed, including robotics and its key technologies, semiconductor technology and equipment, high-end medical equipment, new display equipment, advanced remote sensing equipment, additive manufacturing, new materials and new devices research, micro and nano manufacturing.
