At present, 3D printed implants are divided into standardized and customized ones, and standardized 3D printed implants are more clinically applied.Like traditional implants, standardized 3D-printed implants are mass-produced and do not involve customization. The only difference is that 3D printing has the advantage of porous structure. Metal 3D printing removes many of the constraints in more traditional manufacturing methods such as milling, casting or fabrication. This opens up new possibilities for complex geometries and mass customisation of parts, at a commercially viable cost, that were previously unfeasible.
