Specification design and development of porous tantalum acetabular wall filling block

There are a variety of acetabular defects, especially those of varying degrees due to revision, remediation of previous hip reconstruction and implant failure. The existing acetabulum filler blocks on the market are mainly titanium alloy or cobalt-chromium alloy prepared by traditional machining methods. The product structure design is single, which cannot meet the filling requirements of acetabulum bone defects of various degrees on the one hand. On the other hand, it has a high clinical loosening rate when used in combination with hip prostheses, which greatly increases the risk of secondary surgery. The porous tantalum acetabular wall filling block independently developed by Guangzhou Sailong is equipped with vertical support and three lateral femoral head covering angles of 70°, 90° and 110° for clinical selection according to the clinical requirements of acetabular bone defect repair and hip functional reconstruction of patients. The diameter of the inner sphere ranges from 30-80mm, which can be used for spherical fitting and matching with all types of acetabular cups on the market. It can satisfy the filling and repair of bone defect of acetabulum ring margin in different degree. The porous filling of the all-dimensional bone imitation trabecular structure increases the friction between the prosthesis and the host bone, and at the same time, the mechanical properties of the titanium alloy material are more matched with the bone tissue, which is more conducive to promoting the long-term effect of bone integration. The whole property of the porous layer is improved especially the integrity and mechanical strength of the porous structure on the contour interface. The successful development of porous tantalum acetabulum wall filler will expand the clinical application range of porous tantalum hip joint filler series products, and bring a new tool for the repair of bone defects in hip joint replacement.
