From June 13 to 17, 2022, the Production Technology Department of Guangzhou Sailong completed the delivery of two personalized tantalum metal mini-head prostheses and one personalized tantalum metal patella prosthesis. All three prostheses adopted the design of porous joint. Only the solid part touching the joint surface was polished after treatment, while the rest of the solid surface was kept original roughness to ensure the initial stability of the prosthesis after implantation. For the introduction of porous design, on the one hand, it can reduce the weight of the prosthesis, and on the other hand, the elastic modulus of the prosthesis can be adjusted to be close to the human body’s own bone through the porous structure, which is more conducive to the bone ingrowing of the prosthesis at the later stage of implantation and achieve long-term stability.The tantalum metal prosthesis was manufactured by the powder bed electron beam 3D printing technology independently developed by Guangzhou Sailong, which took 9h and 16h respectively to form and was delivered to Southwest Hospital after processing on June 14.
