Application

1. Space industry

Vanadium titanium alloy is widely used in aircraft engines, aerospace cabin skeletons, missiles, naval hydrofoils and introducers, steam turbine blades, rocket engine casing and so on. In addition, vanadium alloy is also used in magnetic materials, cemented carbide, C conduction materials and nuclear reactor materials and other fields.


2. Steel industry

About 85% of the vanadium metal is added to steel production in the form of ferrovanadium and vanadium nitrogen alloys to improve the strength, toughness, ductility and heat resistance of steel. High strength alloy steel containing vanadium is widely used in oil/gas pipeline, construction, bridge, rail and other production and construction. High strength alloy steel containing vanadium mainly includes: high strength low alloy (HSLA) steel (composite); HSLA steel plate; HSLA steel; HSLA steel strip; Advanced high strength strip steel; Threaded reinforcement for construction; High carbon steel wire; Rail; Tools and die steel, etc.


3. 3D Printing industry

Spherical vanadium powder metal is also widely used in 3D printing materials.



4. Chemical industry

In the chemical industry, vanadium compounds are used as catalysts, ceramic colorants, developers, desiccant, and raw materials for the production of high purity vanadium oxide or ferric vanadium. V205 has special activity as catalyst, which is difficult to be replaced by other elements.


5. Paint, glass

Vanadium salts are colorful, green, red, black, yellow and so on. These colorful vanadium compounds are used to make bright pigments: when added to glass, they can be used to make stained glass, and they can also be used to make various inks.


6. Battery industry

Vanadium flow REDOX battery (VRB) is a promising energy storage system. Compared with other batteries, it has the following points :(1) rated power and rated energy are independent, the power depends on the battery stack, the energy depends on the electrolyte, so the electrolyte can be arbitrarily increased to increase the battery capacity; (2) During charge and discharge, vanadium batteries are only liquid phase reaction, unlike ordinary batteries, which have complex solid phase changes that can cause battery current break or short circuit; (3) Long storage life and storage life of the battery; (4) Can discharge 100% without damaging the battery;


7. Optics

Vanadium dioxide thin film and nano or micron powder can be widely used in electrical and optical switching devices, solar energy control materials, optical disk dielectric materials, coatings, thermistors and other fields due to their own phase transformation properties.
